OK…Now What? | COVID-19 and Home Remodeling

It seems we have turned the corner in terms of COVID-19. Yes, people are still testing positive, but vaccinations continue to rise, mask mandates have been rescinded, and when I look around, it seems life has for the most part gotten back to normal. There is a pent up need for activity and people are going to games and events, plus traveling throughout the state and country.

The unknown is if and when employers and employees will return to their prior office space, or will they remain working from their home office. Some people have moved on to new careers and unfortunately, some businesses have closed.

However with the onset of summer, there is a sense of renewed hope for the future. I get the feeling our own home routines have changed the way we will live, perhaps forever. For now, new work spaces or offices have been added to home. Extra cash was used to complete a remodeling project, maybe a window installation or a large scale kitchen project. We all know these types of improvements add tremendous value to our homes, the places where we will continue to spend time with our family, friends, and loved ones.

Some listeners have told me their family is closer after all that has transpired with COVID-19, spending more time together as parents taught their kids through virtual and home schooling. Though we are on the back end of this unprecedented pandemic, on many fronts, the future looks very bright. As former Marquette basketball coach Al McGuire used to say, “It’s not all seashells and balloons.” But there is plenty of light at the end of this tunnel.
