Give Your Home a Fresh Start

Ringing in the new year is just around the corner and the new year brings so many exciting things – a time for reflection, a time for resolutions, and a time to celebrate.

Most resolutions fade by February, but why do we make New Year’s resolutions in the first place? I believe it’s the mentality of a fresh start and a new beginning. I don’t want to talk anyone out of making resolutions. I used to make them and then realized I should just change my lifestyle, not just for a month or two, but make it permanent. This leads to a fresh beginning, in other words, a blank slate for the new year.

You can do the same for your house, your family’s home, your “castle,” and for most of us, our biggest investment. With holiday parties (for the most part) behind us, it’s time to take assessment of your castle and fix what’s broken or make right what is wrong.

Did you have 20 guests cramped into your small kitchen? Did you use your dining room to “dine” for the first time in months, or longer? Then, think about what area of your home needs to be addressed.

Take your time, think about it, and then visit Callen’s awesome website. Look at photos (it’s fun) and get ideas on baths, kitchens, lower levels, exteriors, and entryways (like the one Callen finished a few months ago on my home). Then when it’s time, meet with a Callen Sales Design Consultant to come up with ideas for your home. That’s what Callen does best – give input. It’s your house, which you know best, you live in and use it, so it’s important to be comfortable in it? Plus, the renovation will add value to your investment.

When you have family and friends over for get together’s, don’t you want to be proud of your home? I know I do. It’s human nature to take pride in our homes, our yards, and our families. It’s not “keeping up with the Jones,’” it’s making your home what you want it to be for you and your family to live in and enjoy.

As you think about the New Year, contemplate what 2020 will bring. Possibly a new kitchen, maybe a powder room makeover, energy-efficient windows, a lower level remodel to add living and entertaining space, a beautiful spa-like bathroom, or siding to enhance your curb appeal. Whatever your needs, the Callen staff will help you achieve the look and functionality you desire for your home.

Happy New Year!
