Black, white, and stainless steel are the most popular options for appliances in today’s kitchen. After the infamous avocado green and harvest gold era, people have seemed hesitant to implement colorful appliances to their kitchens. Today, appliances come in a limitless variety of options and styles.

Doreen Schofield, CR, a Sales Design Consultant with Callen, encourages homeowners to boost a kitchen’s appeal with modern, colorful appliances.

New color choices for refrigerators, dishwashers, and stoves bring a whole new spice to the kitchen. Choose which appliance you want to focus on and create a theme and color scheme based off it. “For a peaceful look, use analogous colors and add accessories in darker, richer colors for visual interest,” said Doreen.

She suggests making the range the focal point of the kitchen. “Cobalt blue has been a popular option for kitchen ranges and gives the entire room an eye-catching pop of color,” Doreen said.

Another popular option is to match the hood to the range for a complete and cohesive look. If you’re worried a brightly colored matching range and hood will stick out, Doreen recommends using accents to tie the room together. “Stainless steel accents will seamlessly tie the range in with your other appliances.” To add warmth to your kitchen, opt for copper accents instead of stainless steel.

Customize your cabinetry or backsplash to compliment your new bold appliance color. “Having high contrast with your appliances and cabinetry is a great way to draw the eye and truly make your kitchen unique,” she said.

If you’re not ready to jump head first into the color trend, start by just bringing in some accents. You can do this by switching out the knobs of your appliances or cabinets with a new bright color. Match this accent color with various accessories throughout the kitchen. The subtle addition of color will be intriguing and chic.
