Maintain Indoor Comfort Year-Round

In my last blog, I wrote about remodeling in the winter months. I had some nice feedback and positive comments, because it makes sense.

Now that we’re in a new year, in the middle of winter, I want to offer advice about indoor comfort and staying warm. Yes, you can turn your thermostat up and up until you finally get comfortable, but I suggest you get to the root of the problem and repair what needs to be fixed.

The snow and cold weather finally appeared. Not that I like it, but it’s part of living in Wisconsin. That means your home needs to be tightly wrapped and well ventilated. The installation of new windows and doors, plus the right siding, can make all the difference between an uncomfortable and chilly season and a warm, cozy winter for you and your family.

Your house functions as a system. From the house wrap, to proper ventilation in your attic and soffits, to well insulated siding. It goes without saying that windows and doors are also a part of the equation. Because these areas work together, all components must function properly for your house to maintain comfort.

When buying our own home 15 years ago, we discovered the 10-year-old home we had purchased, and loved, had serious issues with rotted wood windows. Over the years, Callen installed Marvin Infinity Fiberglass Replacement Windows. Eight times stronger than vinyl, we replaced a few windows each year until we changed out all windows in the house. I cannot believe the difference this made in our home. The new windows, along with a new patio door and a new front door, have made our home comfortable year-round.

It goes without saying you will save money because your thermostat is not cranked to the max just to keep you warm. In addition to the indoor comfort, these new products are beautiful, give your house a more attractive appearance, and will last much longer.

Call Callen and set up a meeting to look at your windows, doors, and siding…. and stay warm!
