What Are Single Hung Windows?

Single-hung windows are similar in appearance to double-hung windows, both featuring an upper and lower sash and offering a classic aesthetic. While both styles are easy to operate and clean, a key difference lies in their functionality. Unlike double-hung windows, which allow for both sashes to move up and down, single-hung windows only permit movement of the bottom sash.

Single-hung windows are well-suited for areas where reaching the top sash may be challenging. Their fixed top sash design offers enhanced energy efficiency by reducing air infiltration compared to double-hung windows. Additionally, single-hung windows can often be a more affordable option.
