If you read my monthly Callen blog, you probably have picked up on themes I don’t intend to mix into my writing, but they usually end up as part of the copy. It’s my family and it’s my home.
My Mom has a saying hanging in her house that I always notice, pause, and think about. It’s a phrase you have seen in stores or in articles – “Home is where the heart is.” This makes me think that our homes are much more than wood, drywall, and concrete.
Your home is where you create memories, raise your family, and essentially, live your life. Your home is your castle, and for many of us, our biggest investment. Not just financially, but emotionally as well.
I was going to start this blog by pointing out fall is around the corner. I love fall – football, crisp autumn mornings with a fire going, chili on Sunday afternoons, and spending time with family. Instead of writing about design and all the great remodeling Callen does, think about why we remodel. To improve and enhance our home, right?
As the cooler months approach, we spend more time in our homes. Just getting back from a vacation to Door County, where everyone should go at least once in their lifetime, I noticed all the latest in light fixtures, different style fireplaces, and very cool bathrooms with glass surround showers and more.
I was also reminded of something, that the tourism is a very competitive industry. Whether a condo, rental, or high-end resort, they strive to make you happy and comfortable. This is exactly how we want to feel about our homes.
Improve with the times, keep your home updated, and invite family over to spend time together on these upcoming fall weekends. After all, home is where your heart (and family) is.
