Another Easter has come and gone and I hope you all had a blessed day! We spent Easter Sunday at my sister-in-law‘s house, with lots of siblings, teenagers, and grandparents – a large gathering. We were blessed to get together, as things felt like they were back to normal. There were smiles everywhere.
It was great having an accommodating space to enjoy the holiday. While everybody gathered in the kitchen as people typically do during this type of get-together, due to the open concept, we never felt crowded.
Walls had been taken down years ago, which opened up the space so the flatscreen TV could be visible. Kids were able to mingle, adults could enjoy conversation, and of course there was easy access to the delicious food! As the sun appeared later in the afternoon, it was nice enough to head outside and play baseball with the kids.
From a remodeling perspective, the open concept design for homes has been around for a long time. While enjoying this family time, I had an observation – as the kitchen will always be a gathering place, I believe it’s important for homeowners to embrace the idea of creating the necessary space that allows for entertaining and family bonding.
