It Happened…Again

One of these days, my wife and I are again going to call Callen, this time for a kitchen renovation.

We hosted Easter this year – both sides of the family. Yes, that means lots of people were over to our house; fortunately, we were blessed with beautiful weather on Easter Sunday. We threw a football around and spent time on our outdoor patio.

But, there still had to be at least 20-plus family all gathered around our kitchen island. While our kitchen is not small by any means, it’s also not the biggest kitchen in the world. I can’t blame our guests – that’s where the appetizers and snacks were, and of course conversation all occurs naturally in the kitchen – the heart and soul of most homes. I was begging people to come outside in the sun!

The reason I mentioned one of these days we’re calling Callen is an inside joke in our family. Just about every part of our home has been remodeled at one point by Callen – windows, doors, bathrooms, and the foyer/loft/staircase. These are awesome projects that have been accomplished.

The one area we’ve pushed off is the kitchen. It has happened in the past at parties, during the holidays, and just when having some friends over – our kitchen always seems to be packed! The cabinets are original, now 30 years old. We really need new cabinets, but also plan to open the area.

Keeping up with your home is something every homeowner understands. While it’s a responsibility, it is also fun and exciting. If you have a similar experience when hosting gatherings, do what we’re going to do – Call Callen. Maybe next Easter, we won’t be crammed together in our kitchen.
