Callen, Inc. serves as the area’s exclusive provider of Infinity from Marvin fiberglass replacement windows and patio doors, which provide durability, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal for homeowners.
Infinity’s Ultrex window and patio door frames are designed to be an extremely durable material. Compared to vinyl, Ultrex is less prone to changing size or shape under different thermal or physical pressures. “It’s not only eight times stronger than vinyl, but it also resists expanding and contracting in any climate,” said Lance Dahl, CR, Senior Sales Representative - Windows & Doors, for Callen.
While vinyl window frames thermally expand at a rate approximately seven times that of glass, Ultrex’s expansion coefficient is like glass. This places less strain on the glass’s integrity and reduces friction between the sliding components, keeping the window easy to open in warm weather. “Due to its durability, an Ultrex window frame need only be about half as big as a vinyl frame for the same structural stability, providing an expanded view,” Lance said.
Infinity windows and patio doors are also available in a variety of finishes, both interior and exterior. “The exterior acrylic finishes, available in seven colors, are fade-resistant and withstand scratches, chalking, fading, chipping, denting and peeling to protect your home's curb appeal,” said Lance.
Interior Ultrex frames are available with Everwood finishes, a wood replacement that appears identical to wood visually and in texture but doesn’t absorb moisture or decay with age. “Everwood can be stained and painted the same as authentic wood, and thus retains the benefits of wood frames while reducing needed maintenance,” he said.
Infinity offers four glass variations, varying by the ultra-thin low-emissivity (low E) coating placed on the glass that mediates the amount of heat transfer, modifying the amount of heat that enters and leaves the home. The four different options offered are determined by how the coating is applied: Low E1 means one layer, Low E2 is two layers, Low E3 is three layers, and Low E3/ERS is three layers with an extra coating on the indoor side to reflect escaping heat.
“Low E1 has high heat gain and high heat retention, making it the best option for colder climates, such as Wisconsin’s,” said Lance.
Infinity from Marvin also offers a variety of window grilles and divider patterns. “A classic rectangular grille, cottage, and prairie-style grilles are available, and homeowners can work with Callen designers to discover additional patterns for their home,” Lance said.
