Are we back to normal? What is “normal?” There are still many unanswered questions as I write this blog.
It’s Memorial Day, the unofficial start to summer. With it comes (hopefully) warmer temperatures and sunny skies, more time spent outdoors and hopefully some good news that the lockdowns have helped flatten the curve and we, as a society, can start getting back to work, school, and a sense of normalcy.
Now, it’s likely things will never be exactly the same as they were prior to COVID-19, but I do get a sense that there is “light at the end of the tunnel” from observing how people react and behave.
Now, what does this all have to do with remodeling? A lot, actually. Our homes are a major part of our lives and I believe the summer of 2020 will bring us home more often than past years. Backyard parties, barbecues, and just spending time cutting the grass and gardening are all part of our lives.
With that, it’s time to evaluate the condition of your home’s exterior. Hail, rain, and winter damage may all now be a bit more visible that we are outside on a daily basis. Is it time for a conversation about new siding? How are the doors and windows doing? Are you ready to replace that pesky patio door? If your home is over 30 years old and it’s been awhile since these areas have been addressed, now is the time to consider making updates. Many of the new products have lifetime warranties and will likely have much less maintenance than your old siding, windows, or doors.
So, as we get back to being outside and enjoying the yard this Memorial Day, make sure you are enjoying your home’s exterior as well. Summer is just starting, so let’s relish our family, our freedom, and our home!
