Trending Interior Paint Colors for 2022

A new year means new trends in paint colors. Many people are looking to move forward and forget the stress of the past couple years, and laying down a fresh coat of paint is the perfect way to brighten both your home and your spirits! While in the end, every homeowner has to choose for themselves which colors speak to them and bring them comfort and joy, it’s still nice to know which interior paint colors are predicted to become popular in the coming year. Here are some of the top trending interior paint colors in 2022.

A Return to Nature

While grays have had a very long run at the top, it now seems they are on their way out. For the new year, the color experts at Benjamin Moore recommend a botanical-inspired palette of 14 hues made up of refreshed primary colors, tinted off-whites, and warm, comforting earth tones.

Shades of Green

Continuing with the botanical theme, many of the top paint companies have chosen a shade of green as their top pick for 2022. In addition to the pale green of Benjamin Moore’s October Mist, there’s the dusty green Laurel Leaf from the Better Homes and Gardens collection; Sherwin-Williams’ mid-tone gray-green Evergreen Fog; Glidden’s avocado-green Guacamole; Behr’s soft, silvery blue-green known as Breezeway; and PPG’s muted, organic blue-green Olive Sprig.

Out of the Blue

Another favorite hue found in nature is the color blue. This year, Pantone chose a playful shade named Veri Peri as its Color of the Year. Veri Peri is a bright shade of periwinkle that combines the calming, peace-inducing qualities of blue with the vibrant energy of red. HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams chose a more muted shade of blue, a washed-out indigo called Aleutian. In the meantime, rather than choosing just one color of the year, Valspar put together a palette of dusty pastels, warm neutrals, and soothing blues and greens, in shades ranging from light and subtle to dark and dramatic.
