Strengthen Your Bathroom Storage Space

Storage space is a necessity for every household, whether used to store items used daily or seasonally. Storage solutions are invaluable, no matter the home size, especially in traditionally smaller rooms, like the bathroom.

“It’s important to think through storage space when planning a bathroom remodel,” said Marie Owens, Sales • Design Consultant at Callen. “You’ll want a spa-like feel to your bathroom; the less cluttered it is, the more peaceful the atmosphere will be.”

Through Callen’s innovative design, homeowners can transform their bathrooms to reflect their lifestyle with various storage solutions.

Built-In Shelving and Cabinets

“A popular storage solution we see in newer bathrooms is a built-in closet or set of cabinets,” Marie said. “Whether placed on a blank wall or designed in a smaller size next to the sink, the closet or cabinets can hold anything from beauty supplies to extra toilet paper.”

A medicine cabinet built into the wall, also called a recessed medicine cabinet, is a space saver for those everyday items. It can offer a sleek look to the bathroom, with frameless and mirrored front options.

In today’s bathrooms, it is common to find a freestanding tub. Don’t sacrifice the style of the tub and add ledge shelving next to it. Use the lower shelves for soap or a favorite book, while the higher shelves can hold decorative items.

Floating Shelves and Cabinets

“If you find the bathroom is short on wall space, floating shelves are the perfect solution,” said Marie.

Floating shelves can be used in several places, including below the sink for items normally placed on the vanity to keep the countertop clear. Another common space for floating shelving is above the toilet, giving extra room for accessories, towels, and other items needed more regularly. “Maximize your space by installing tiered shelving in the corners,” Marie said. “Corners are great real estate for storage, as they are perfect for plants, lotion, moisturizers, and washcloths.

“At Callen, we work to anticipate client needs and will partner with you to meet your storage necessities beautifully and functionally.”
