“Are We There Yet?”

Think back to when you were a kid going on vacation. I remember driving my parents nuts as my brother, sister, and I sat in the back of our family station wagon in the mid-70s asking roughly every five minutes, “Are we there yet?”  They’d answer, “NO!” and then we’d repeat the same question over and over.

How about being a child and waiting to turn 12, then it was 16 for driving privileges, then 18 to vote and be an “adult.”  The point is, we always seem to be seeking and waiting for something, rather than enjoying the moment or “carpe diem,” seize the day. I learned that term in either high school or college and it clicked. Enjoy the moment, the here and now. “Stop and smell the roses” is another term we should adhere to. Let’s slow down, look around, and enjoy.

We are blessed to live the way we do, with all the amenities one could possibly ask for, yet we tend to take them for granted, or always search for the next great thing. Why is that? I’m not sure, but it’s probably human nature, because I think all of us are guilty of this from time to time.

How does this relate to Callen and remodeling? Easy. Stop and enjoy your home, yard, and family. Think of the memories you are making. Recently, longtime friends and neighbors of ours moved from Cedarburg to Texas. It was emotional for them to leave the house they built, raised two boys (now men), and created thousands of “moments” and memories.

We are seeing homes with kitchens and bathrooms that decades ago, we would never have dreamed of living in! Products and smart homes we now take for granted are fairly new. I thought Nintendo and MTV were really cool when I was in high school in the 80s … boy, we’ve come a long way. We have so much, yet sometimes we take things for granted. Think of the hours the average American spends inside their home, or in this Wisconsin summer, outside on the patio, deck, or playing in the yard. With Callen, interior remodeling is about having great design, cabinets, countertops, flooring, and lighting, while for the exterior, the very best in windows and doors.  Let the experts at Callen help you with that, so you can carpe diem!
